Our Beloved Novia...

It has taken some time before I seemed to find the strength to post this. It has been over a year now that Novia has left us.  Here is the tribute I wrote to honor her a few days after her passing.

Our tender Novia left behind her pain and struggles associated to age and advanced cancer. In the past few months she regressed in the most valiant and stoic manner. That is all she knew how.
Since she was a puppy she always had a weightless bounce of happy in her step. Plus, she was and still remains the cutest puppy I have truly ever seen. That is the honest truth.
Novia had a way of making me see true joy in life. She had this gentle way in everything she did. I don't think I have met a greater lover of people and other animals. Surpassing even my dear Axel.
She also had the most distinctive bark. She had the most patient and deep hugs. Along with the biggest coat and paws of all the dogs!
She was the most attentive mother and acted as a grandmother to Georgia's puppies.
In the last few days she would look into my eyes for long periods, it was like our souls understood a lifetime of memories. I can't describe what emotion those looks brought. Novia has been with me all my adult life.
I told the girls that our heart grows larger with each individual that enters it. That when they leave us they take a piece with us, but when we join them again in the eternities they complete us. I rejoice in the thought of the reunion, rather than despair in the parting.
Families are and can be forever! My family just may include a few 4 legged members.

I love my tender heart "Sissy". I hope I can have portion of the Christ like love she showed for everyone.
She is laid between her brothers, Axel and Thor. The original 3 as I call them. They did everything together. Even passing in the same month of October. Thor, October 13, 2013. Axel, October 29, 2015. Novia, October 9, 2017.
Ohh how I love her!!!
I went through photos and found some of my most favorites along with some recent photos. I have several.. so I may have to add more at a later date.
Thank you Tony Parsons with the Blackfoot Animal Clinic, for making the transition from this life to the next, most easy and comfortable. As well as, being an essential support and dear friend in our lives since Novia's litter of 13. Also, thank you to all of the owners of her puppies for loving her and her babies.

Our loss of Axel...

We lost a member of our family on October 29, 2015.  This gentle soul left us this evening. I remember getting the call, while putting together our wedding invitations (nearly 9 years ago), the call to be given the opportunity to get Axel. Christopher said definitely get him! I remember holding his paw all the way home on our 5 hour drive. I have held that paw countless times since. What a life and example he has built out of love for everyone. I was once told, and I know to be true, that a dog's love is to witness a glimpse of the love the Savior, Jesus Christ, has for us. Unconditional, pure, never ending, and humble....no matter the circumstance. My heart is full of gratitude to my Heavenly Father, he has given me one of the greatest loves of my life. Not one sparrow will be lost, each creation is most dear to him. I am grateful for my testimony of the plan of salvation... I know that families can be together, that we live on after this temporal period, that our Savior truly is there for us and went through all for us, and our Heavenly Father knows our hearts' most tender and dearest desires. I love Axel with all that I have and that love will get to be enjoyed for eternity. Our Father in Heaven took the heart breaking decision from me and let Axel peacefully leave us while our little family was together and with him.
Axel has been there during my darkest and most beautiful moments. He has cleaned newborn puppies, spent hours by my side with those same puppies, taught Georgia how to mother her puppies, truly loved all animals that have been in our family, taught numerous children dog safety, had a special part in my niece's 4th grade Idaho history program. He helped my twins learn how to walk as well as our boy. He was able to witness the girls riding their bikes without training wheels this October. Axel was extra gentle with me during all my pregnancies including this one (he seemed extra sweet this time). He was truly perfect for us. His last adventure, and a tender mercy, was for Axel to be able to go for "A" day for kindergarten.
The last couple of days of his life have been truly sweet, he has had real energy to be near his normal self. We were able to enjoy his most treasured activities; relaxing on the grass, searching in the weeds and hay field for mice, playing with the kids, spending time with the cats, and LOTS of love, kisses, and deep hugs. Words can barely touch what he is and all that he has done. Thank you Axel, for everything. I will never forget your forceful rooting nose that meant "pet me" or your ever faithful paw always wanting a shake (possibly my reminder I need to give you attention). You are my Honey Bear!!! My "Stinker" I love you baby. Forever and Always will I love you honey bear.

Axel and the 4th Grade Idaho History Program..

This week Axel had the privilege to play the role of Seaman, the Newfoundland who accompanied the famous Lewis and Clark on their great expedition.  That is why the pictures were slightly delayed.  He went to practice on Wednesday the 13th and had 3 performances on the 14th.  He was exceptional and I was honored that the 4th grade asked him to be in the program.  He seemed to enjoy the attention from the audience and was quite the actor!!

During a practice
Playing Seaman during 1 of 3 of the performances
Waiting for his part
during one of the 3 performances
During the final performance
Pretending to pant like Axel!! hahahaha

Thor our beloved boy

Our dear dear Thor lost his battle with bone cancer on October 14, 2013. He was 7-1/2 years old.  I added pictures of him on his own page in the section titled "In Memory".  I invite you to look through and enjoy pictures of one of the greatest dogs our lives have known.  He is missed and we are grateful for the time we had to cherish him.

Dogs 101: Newfoundland

Here is a link about Newfoundland dogs.  Animal Planet created a short film about them.  It is quite informational.
